River Ratings:

Because your safety is important to us here is a scale of river difficulty: We do not require any prior experience.

Class 1: Very small rough areas, requires no maneuvering. (Skill Level: None)

Class 2: Some rough water, maybe some rocks, might require maneuvering.(Skill Level: Basic Paddling Skill)

Class 3: Whitewater, small waves, maybe a small drop, but no considerable danger. May require significant maneuvering.(Skill Level: Experienced paddling skills)

Class 4: Whitewater, medium waves, maybe rocks, maybe a considerable drop, sharp maneuvers may be needed. (Skill Level: Whitewater Experience)

Class 5: Whitewater, large waves, possibility of large rocks and hazards, possibility of a large drop, requires precise maneuvering (Skill Level: Advanced Whitewater Experience)

Class 6: Class 6 rapids are considered to be so dangerous as to be effectively unnavigable on a reliably safe basis. Rafters can expect to encounter substantial whitewater, huge waves, huge rocks and hazards, and/or substantial drops that will impart severe impacts beyond the structural capacities and impact ratings of almost all rafting equipment. Traversing a Class 6 rapid has a dramatically increased likelihood of ending in serious injury or death compared to lesser classes. (Skill Level: Successful completion of a Class 6 rapid without serious injury or death is widely considered to be a matter of great luck or extreme skill)

Maine Whitewater Info: Maine White water has been around longer than most people know. Most rivers in Maine are naturally flowing rivers with some whitewater. They run high in the spring with the melting of snow, ice and lots of rain. This allows for some time for whitewater rafters to take part on some of the best Maine Rafting available. These natural Maine rivers have class ll-lll whitewater and some IV. However Maine is blessed with Dam released rivers that run for most of the year. Yes! These river are full of exciting Maine Whitewater Rafting at several different levels. This is done during a block of hours so it will not compete or harm fish flow. Maine White water Rafting are fully controlled by Dams now. They promise high volumes of water and we take care of the rest.Whitewater rafting season is from May to late September.

KENNEBEC RIVER: The Kennebec River is one of Maine's fun and exciting rivers that allows you to relax for a good portion of the trip while still getting the fun of riding 6-8 foot roller coaster waves. The Kennebec River is known for its breathtaking wilderness with deep gorges and amazing wildlife to be view everywhere. Maine's Kennebec River can be fun for the whole family. Minimum age for the Maine Rafting trip is 10-years old.

DEAD RIVER: No! It's not so DEAD. This Maine River only runs a few times a year. It is 16- miles of some of Maine's most wild whitewater to be offered. The Dead River will start out with Class III whitewater and build all day long to a final drop at Poplar Hill Falls Class IV. This river requires an advance noticed because of its limited space. Please call for details. Minimum age is 16.

PENOBSCOT RIVER: This is Maine's Premium Whitewater experience. We run a couple of different trips on this river. One is more family friendly and the other extremely wild and crazy. Both trips will run you through some of the most beautiful wilderness Maine has to offer. You may even see a moose or eagle while drifting along this river. Penobscot River is the only river in Maine that has two Class IV rapids back to back. Minimum age is 16 and 12 for family trip.
